How to Get Bright White Eyes

The whites of your eye are called the sclera, and these can indicate a person’s overall health. Having yellowish or reddish sclera can be challenging in terms of personal vanity, since they can make a person look older or tired. They can also signal health issues related to allergens, toxins in the body, and even more serious liver problems. There are several remedies that can treat or counteract redness or yellowness in your eyes, ranging from using eye drops to changing your diet to applying makeup strategically.

1. Use regular eye drops like Visine or Clear Eyes. These eye drops are used to reduce redness in your eyes and give them a bit of moisture to counteract irritants or otherwise dryness in the eyes. Visine, Clear Eyes, and other brands can be purchased at grocery and drug stores, as well as larger stores like Target, Walmart, and so on. Put 1-2 drops in the affected eye. Consult the instructions on the bottle for additional information.
  • Don’t use eyedrops like Visine or Clear Eyes too often. While they give good immediate results, when used regularly, they actually prevent your eyes from creating their own natural lubrication, and your eyes may become chronically dry, red, and dependent on the drops. A safer option is saline drops or gentle eyedrops like Systane that mimic natural tears.

2
Try thicker viscosity eye drops. A Japanese brand of eye drops called Rohto is a product that is thicker than natural tears. They have cooling properties that relieve burning eyes and they reduce redness as well. These are available at grocery and drug stores. If you have not used any eye drops before, these might not be the best ones to start with, as they can feel a little harsh to the eye.
3
Try blue eye drops. A company from Switzerland, Innoxa, makes eye drops that are actually colored blue. In addition to relieving burning and redness symptoms, Innoxa Blue Drops also coat your eyes with a light film of blue, which counteracts the yellowish tinge in your eyeballs to make them appear whiter.

Method Two of Four:
Changing your Health Habits

1

Eat a rainbow of fruits and vegetables. Orange and yellow fruits and vegetables, such as carrots, pumpkins, lemons and oranges, contain vitamins and antioxidants that will help keep your eyes white. Eating green, leafy foods like spinach and kale also have a positive effect on your eye health.[1] Nuts like almonds, walnuts and peanuts also contain minerals that promote eye health.[2]

  • These fruits and veggies will also help to detoxify your liver. A healthy liver will help keep the whites of your eyes clear and bright. If your liver is full of toxins, then it may not be able to process foods and vitamins as efficiently as it should. Detoxify your liver by drinking a glass of beetroot juice on an empty stomach, or eating carrots and spinach.[3][4]
2
Reduce refined sugars and carbohydrates in your diet. Reducing the amount of foods that contain refined carbohydrates and sugars, as well as wheat, can help your body process foods better and detoxify your liver.[5][6] Decrease the amount of unhealthy foods you eat, particularly at night, which can interfere with a good sleep pattern.

Take supplements. Your eyes depend on good levels of Vitamin A and C to maintain their health. In addition to eating foods rich in these vitamins, take a supplemental vitamin every day. Also boost your level of omega 3 acids by taking 4 capsules every day of omega 3 or fish oil supplements.

  1. 4
  2. Get 7 to 8 hours of sleep every night.Getting enough sleep every night will ensure that your body is rested and consequently that your eyes are rested and restored to their natural white color. Get at least 7 to 8 hours of sleep every night. If you are having trouble falling asleep, try soothing music or 10 minutes of meditation before going to bed to ensure that your body knows that it’s time to sleep.
  3. Drink plenty of water. Bright white eyes rely on adequate hydration, and keeping your body hydrated will help replenish your body’s fluids, thus reducing puffiness and redness in your eyes. Drink 8 to 10 glasses of plain water every day, or approximately 64 ounces.
6. Cut down on alcohol and caffeine. Both of these will dehydrate your body and add to puffiness and redness to your eyes. They also can interrupt good sleep patterns, which may interfere with you getting 7-8 hours of sleep every night.

7. Avoid irritants like smoke, dust and pollen.
Smoking irritates the eyes and can cause redness. It can also dry out the eyes. Eliminating smoking from your daily habits can help your eyes restore their natural color and hydration. Dust that can be found both outside and inside can also irritate your eyes and make them prone to redness. Pollen and other allergens might also contribute to eye irritation. Use an air purifier indoors to reduce these irritants if they are hard to avoid.

8. Reduce eyestrain.
Working on a computer all day long can take a toll on your eyes, but it might not be an option to reduce the amount of time you spend on the computer. If you must work on a computer for several hours every day, then you should address ways to help reduce eyestrain. These can include installing proper lighting, changing your computer’s settings so that your monitor is the same brightness as the rest of the room, blink more often, exercise your eyes, and so on.

9. Wear sunglasses when you are outside.
UVA and UVB rays can damage your eyes over time, and exposure to sunlight contributes to yellowing your eyes. Wear sunglasses that protect your eyes from UVA and UVB rays. Most sunglasses available today will have this feature, but be sure to check the label. Try to wear sunglasses whenever there is even a little glare outside. There doesn’t need to be blue skies and sun for you to need sunglasses. On cloudy days, there may be quite a lot of glare that can strain and damage your eyes.

10. Visit your doctor. You may have a medical condition called jaundice that contributes to yellowish eyes. Jaundice is a condition when hemoglobin in your blood is broken down into bilirubin and does not clear through your body properly. If the bilirubin builds up in the skin, it causes the skin and eyes to appear yellow. Jaundice can indicate a medical issue most commonly having to do with the liver, gall bladder, or pancreas.[9] Talk with your doctor to rule out jaundice and any underlying diseases or conditions that may be contributing to yellowish eyes.

Method Three of Four:
Using Natural Remedies

1. Try Ayurvedic remedies.
Ayurvedic medicine originated in India about 3,000 years ago and uses natural remedies and practices to prevent and treat health conditions. Triphala is an herbal mixture used in Ayurvedic medicine that can treat a number of conditions, including improving eye health and eye whiteness. It accomplishes this in part by detoxifying the body.[10] Triphala can be purchased at Indian food import stores as a powder or in tablet form.

  • Use triphala as an eye wash. Dissolve one tablespoon of the powder in 8 ounces of water overnight. Strain this mixture and then sprinkle it over your eyes or use as an eye wash.[11]
  • A word of caution: triphala is also used as a laxative to correct constipation, so proceed carefully with using it.
  • One of the main ingredients in triphala is Indian gooseberry, the juice of which can be dropped directly into your eyes at night to improve their whiteness.

2. Rub carrot juice on your eyelids.Eating carrots will improve your eye health, and so will topical application of the juice. Wash and dry several carrots, and chop off their ends. Process several carrots through a juicer to get healthy carrot juice that can then be applied on your eyelids. Leave the juice on your eyelids overnight. Be careful not to put the juice directly into your eyes.

3. Use a cold compress on your eyes.
Putting your skin in contact with something cold will help reduce puffiness, but it can also help whiten your eyes as well. Soak a washcloth in ice water, wring it out, and lay the washcloth over your eyes for 5-10 minutes. The redness in your eyes should diminish after repeating this a few times over the course of a day.

Method Four of Four:
Using Makeup

1. Brighten the area under your eyes.
Dark circles under your eyes will make your eyes appear dull. Brighten up the area under and around your eyes by applying concealer. Dab several small dots of concealer across the bottom of your eye and gently tap across the dots to blend them with the rest of your skin.

2. Use blue tones of eye shadow and eyeliner.
Adding navy or indigo blue colors around your eyes will be somewhat softer than the drama and harshness of black colors. Also, the blue tones will help to counteract yellowish colors that might show up in the whites of your eyes, which will make your eyes appear brighter and clearer.

3. Use eyeliner.
These days white eyeliner could be easily found in market. Just a swipe or two of white eyeliner on your eyelid will not only make them brighter will also make them wider. You can also take little white eyeliner near corner of your lids and blend it, this will give an angel like look. Your face will look dewy and very fresh.

4. Use brown mascara on your bottom lashes. Making your eyes stand out can help them appear whiter. Using black mascara on both top and bottom lashes will make dramatic eyes, but they do not help your eyes look whiter. Instead, try brown mascara on your bottom lashes. This softer color will help draw the attention upwards to your top lashes, which will make your eyes appear wider, more alert and whiter.

5. Try a light-colored eyeliner.
By using a light bone-colored or flesh-colored eyeliner, your eyes will attract and reflect light, which will help make it seem like your eyes are larger. Outline the inner corners of your eyes with the eyeliner to give the illusion of being brighter.[15]

  • Apply a shimmering white or light-colored eye shadow in the inner corners of your eyes to attain a similar effect.[16]
  • Try to refrain from using a white eyeliner pencil to outline your eye, as this can be hard to blend in properly and may look too “staged” or artificial.

6. Use an eyelash curler. An eyelash curler, which is readily available at drug stores and grocery stores for about $5 to $6, will clamp your eyelashes and bend them upwards in a curl. Curling your lashes upward will make your eyes appear to be bigger and more open. They can also draw attention to your eyes by making your eyelashes appear longer.

7. Use a bit of pink blush. Apply pink blush to the apples of your cheeks, your lips, and across the highest point of your eyebrows. This will lighten and brighten your entire face, which will help make your eyes appear brighter and whiter.

When you think of how to make money blogging, advertising is often the first thing that comes to mind.

Yes, it is possible to make money with ads on WordPress, but there are also other ways you can monetize your blog content. Here are a few methods that work:

1. Make Money With Affiliate Marketing

Making money online using affiliate marketing

Affiliate marketing is when you recommend a product or service to your audience using special tracking links, and then get a referral commission for every time someone buys after clicking your link.

A real-life example of affiliate marketing would be when you help a friend open a bank account at your bank branch. Usually, they give you a gift card or a bonus of some sort.

Similar to that many products and services online have affiliate programs that you can join. There are affiliate programs available for every industry (niche).

If you’re interested in getting started with affiliate marketing, you can start by thinking about the products you already use that your readers may be interested in as well. Then you can see if they have an affiliate program that you can sign up for.

You can find a huge list of products to promote from:

Once you have selected the products to promote, then you can use a WordPress plugin like PrettyLinksto manage your affiliate links.

It allows you to quickly insert links into posts, create branded links, auto-replace keywords into links, and even see how each link is performing on your site.

Affiliate marketing is the easiest way to make money because you can promote a wide-variety of products. Just about every popular store like Walmart, BestBuy, Amazon, and others have an affiliate program.

To learn more, see our beginner’s guide to affiliate marketing and also check out these affiliate marketing tools and plugins which will help you increase your earnings.

2. Display Google AdSense on WordPress

Display Google AdSense Ads on your blog

Google Adsense is an easy way to make money from your blog. All you need to do is add a script from Google to your website and start displaying ads.

You will get paid for every time a user clicks on the ad. These are called CPC ads.

What is CPC? CPC stands for “cost per click.” By displaying CPC ads with Google Adsense, you receive a set fee every time a visitor clicks on an ad.

The cost per click is set by the advertiser. (This is in contrast to CPM ads, where you’re paid for ad views instead of clicks. CPM means “cost per thousand impressions,” where M is the roman numeral for 1,000.)

Google Adsense is a good way to start earning money online when you are first starting out.

You can see our guide on how to monetize a WordPress blog with Google AdSense to get started, and this tutorial on how to optimize your AdSense revenue for more tips.

Looking for a Google AdSense alternative? TryMedia.net. They also have a large pool of advertisers, and their payouts are good.

3. Use a WordPress Advertising Plugin to Sell Ads Directly

Sell ads directly

Google AdSense is easy to set up, but the amount of money you can earn is limited. Each ad click earning will vary.

Directly selling banner ad space on your website can be more lucrative. Instead of having to rely on an intermediary who takes a cut of the money, you negotiate the price and terms on your own.

Above we mentioned the difference between CPC and CPM ads, where you are paid per click or per thousand views. While you could use one of those models for selling banner ads, most bloggers charge a flat rate instead. Charging a flat rate is easier than keeping track of views or clicks.

Still, directly selling ads takes more work to manage than using Google AdSense. Instead of just adding a bit of code to your website, you’ll have to negotiate the pricing, come up with an agreement and terms, and take care of administrative work like invoicing.

However, using a WordPress ad management plugincan make the process easier. We recommend usingAdSanity, it allows you to manage Google AdSense as well as your own ads.

To learn more, see our guide on how to sell ads on your WordPress blog.

4. Sell Sponsored Blog Posts

Some bloggers aren’t interested in displaying ads to their audience and wonder how to monetize a blog without ads.

With ad networks, you lose some control over the content displayed on your site. Some readers will get annoyed or offended by ads, and more and more people are using ad blockers which affects your earning potential.

An alternative way to monetize a blog is through sponsorships.

A sponsorship works just like it does in sports, TV shows, or other industries. Basically, a company pays you to represent their product, talk about it, and promote it to your readers.

To get started, it’s a good idea to put together a one-page media kit that details your traffic stats, social media following, audience demographics, and any other data that will make your site more appealing to advertisers. Then, you can approach companies to negotiate a sponsorship deal.

When publishing sponsored posts, it’s crucial to know about the laws in your area about disclosure.

For example, in the United States, a blogger who publishes a sponsored post must comply with the FTC’s Endorsement Guides. This includes disclosing whenever a post is sponsored. You can do that byadding a sponsored post prefix to your post title in WordPress.

5. Get Paid to Write Reviews

Writing paid reviews

Similar to sponsored posts, you can also make money by writing paid reviews on your site.

This is a slightly different monetization method than a review site with affiliate links, as mentioned above.

Instead, you get to try out products related to your niche for free, and even get paid for writing a review.

The process for doing this can be similar to getting sponsored posts. You’ll want to review products that are relevant to your niche, that your audience would be interested in.

You can approach companies on your own to ask about doing paid reviews. There are also websites like PayPerPost that can help to connect you with businesses who may be interested.

6. Earn Money Online by Flipping Websites

Flippa

If you know how to build a WordPress website, then you’re way ahead of most people. Sometimes entrepreneurs like to buy already established websites that they can use for their own businesses.

If you can build a WordPress blog and start getting traffic to it, then you can sell it and make money for your efforts.

This requires knowing the type of websites in demand, and how to price and sell them. There are websites like Flippa that serve as auction sites and brokers for selling websites.

7. Get Public Speaking Gigs as an Influencer

Become a public speaker

If you are promoting your own brand along with your blog, then over time you will get a decent following establishing you as an influencer in your space.

You can utilize this recognition to get some public speaking jobs. Many bloggers make a lot of money by speaking at conferences.

Speaking at events whether you are paid or not helps you promote your blog and your personal brand. If you are good at networking and public speaking, then you would be able to find lots of new opportunities on the way.

Here are some general tips you need to keep in mind if you want to make money as a paid public speaker.

  • Be an expert in your field. If you don’t have enough knowledge/skills at the moment, then start learning right away.
  • Be consistent – You need to continuously promote your expertise on the topic through your blogging and social media activities.
  • Let people know that you are available. You can announce on social media or privately reach out to event organizers.
  • You may not find paid public speaking gigs right away. Many successful speakers start their public speaking career from smaller, more casual, and free community events and meetups.

Create a Paid Membership Website

make money online with paid membership sites

If you’re not interested in selling ads or sponsored posts, there are plenty of other ways you can earn money online from your blog. A popular method is by having your audience pay to access certain content or areas of your site. Here are a couple of ways to do that.

8. Create Restricted Members Only Content

Your most loyal readers are huge fans and may be willing to pay to read more of your work. You can create a members-only area for them to share more in-depth blog posts, downloads, videos, audio content, and more.

Membership sites can be a big time investment since you must continually create premium content for your paying members. But they can be very lucrative because they are recurring revenue (subscriptions).

You can easily create a membership site using aWordPress membership plugin. We recommend using MemberPress, it is the most beginner friendly and robust membership plugin for WordPress.

We have a complete guide on making a WordPress membership website with step by step instructions to help you get started.

9. Create a Private Forum

Another option for creating a paid membership site is to create private forums that users must pay to get access to. Forums are a great way for your audience to get one-on-one advice from you. Other members of the community can also interact and help each other out.

While moderating a forum can be a lot of work, a paid forum is a great way to earn recurring revenue from your WordPress site.

To get started, you’ll need to set up a forum on your site. Here are our recommended top 5 best forum plugins for WordPress.

10. Create a questions and answers community

Question and answers website

Question and answers communities like Stack Exchange and Quora are huge. They help you build an online community that is driven, motivated, and highly engaged.

Just like forums, you will have to spend some time building a sizable community. After that, you will be able to monetize user-generated content on your website using advertisements, affiliate ads, and other methods.

Popular question and answer websites are able to get direct advertisement and sponsorship deals from advertisers in their industry. This helps them negotiate a much higher rate and extra perks.

See our guide on how to start a Questions and Answers website using WordPress.

Create a Directory Website With WordPress

create a paid directory website to make money online

Another option for making money online with WordPress is to create a directory or listing website. You can then charge visitors to advertise their listings on your site.

Here are a few different directory ideas to get you started.

11. Create a Paid Business Directory

Web directories may make you think of the early days of the web before bots started indexing everything automatically, but they’re not completely obsolete.

Generic web directories are no longer necessary, but local or niche directories can be extremely useful.

Directories might gather reviews of local businesses, share the best podcasts on a given topic, or list the best products in a certain niche.

You can easily create a web directory in WordPressfollowing our tutorial. There are also plenty ofdirectory plugins for WordPress you can choose from, many of which allow you to accept payments with submissions.

12. Create a WordPress Job Board With Paid Submissions

Another option is to create a paid job board. Companies who want to advertise an open position to your audience can pay you to submit a listing.

It’s easier to create a successful job board if you narrow down to a specific niche. That way you can become the go-to site for anyone looking for a job in that industry, with minimal competition.

This works great for established blogs in a narrow niche. For example, ProBlogger is now famous for their job board for professional bloggers.

With WordPress, creating a paid job board is easy. See our tutorial on how to create a job board in WordPress with WP Job Manager for a step-by-step walkthrough. You can use the WooCommerce Paid Listings addon to charge for job post submissions.

use WB Paid Listings to charge for submissions

13. Create a WordPress Event Calendar With Paid Submissions

Instead of a job board, you could create an event calendar where you charge people to advertise their events. This also works well if you already have an established audience, because businesses will be willing to pay to reach your audience.

A paid event calendar is a good monetization method for local or industry-specific websites. You might choose to advertise events in your local city, conferences in a certain industry, or even webinars or live streaming events.

To set this up on your site, see our guide on the best WordPress event calendar plugins.

Sell Digital Products With WordPress

selling digital products to make money with wordpress

If you’re looking for a more low-maintenance way to make money online blogging with WordPress, then selling your own digital products may be a good choice. While you do have to invest the time to create the product up front, after it’s created your work is very minimal.

Here are a few digital products you can create and sell on your website.

14. Sell Ebooks on WordPress

Ebooks are an obvious choice for creating digital products. They are relatively simple to write and produce. If you’ve been blogging for a while, then you can collect some of your old blog posts and turn them into chapters of a book.

Once your book is written, you can design a cover using a tool like Canva and create a PDF of your ebook.

Selling digital products on WordPress is easy with a plugin. To get started, you can see our guide on thebest WordPress eCommerce plugins compared.

For digital downloads, we recommend Easy Digital Downloads. It’s relatively easy to use and includes all the features you need to create your online store.

sell digital products with easy digital downloads

15. Sell Online Courses

Selling an online course is another great way to make money online.

Courses usually sell for a much higher price point than ebooks. You can charge a premium for your expertise.

You’ll need to create the lessons for your course, plus any supporting materials that you want to include such as downloads, slides, checklists, templates, etc.

You will also need to decide whether you want to offer personalized support for your course. Some sites offer two tiers of each course: a basic version without support, and a premium version with email support.

Once your course is ready, you can use a learning management system (LMS) plugin to deliver the course to your audience.

We recommend using LearnDash with MemberPress.

For detailed instructions, see our guide on how to sell online courses using LearnDash.

16. Host a Paid Webinar

Webinars are a great way to build your audience, share your experience, and grow your business. But did you know they’re also a smart way to make money online?

Webinars are similar to online courses, but a webinar is live and often includes a question and answer section.

WordPress makes it easy to host a paid webinar. Whether you’re using your site to actually host the webinar, or just to advertise your webinar and register participants, it’s crucial for your webinar success.

For more details on how you can host a paid webinar, see our list of the 9 best webinar software for WordPress users.

Sell Services Online Using WordPress

you can work from home selling services online

If you’re looking for easy ways to make money online, selling services is the fastest way to get started. There’s no up front investment of creating a product or investing in inventory.

Instead, you can just create a “hire me” page on your website and start looking for your first client.

Here are a few ideas to get you started.

17. Offer Freelance Services

As a blogger, you’re already an expert on your niche. You can start earning an income by offering your skills and expertise as a freelancer.

Freelancing is a popular way to make money online because it doesn’t necessarily require any upfront investment of time or money. You can just start offering your services to your current audience.

Once you start freelancing, you’ll need a way to invoice and collect payments from your clients. We recommend using FreshBooks, but there are also other invoicing plugins for WordPress.

If you’re interested in freelancing to make some serious money online, then see our list of the top tools for WordPress freelancers, designers, and developers for help getting started.

18. Start Your Own Consulting Business

Consulting is another way to make money online from your blog and share your expertise.

Instead of offering your services, a consultant offers advice and strategy so that their clients can become more effective.

As with freelancing, there is no startup investment. You can start offering consulting services on your existing blog. All you need is to create a page with a form so users can request more information.

To easily create a professional, mobile-friendly form, we recommend WPForms. You can see this tutorial on how to create a request a quote form in WordPress to get started.

19. Become a Coach

If “consultant” doesn’t feel like the right title for you, you can consider becoming a coach instead.

A life coach offers advice, guidance, and accountability for setting goals and improving one’s life. There are also other kinds of coaches, such as blog coaches, writing coaches, and more.

Whatever your area of expertise is, you can provide one-on-one help to your audience with coaching sessions.

To save time and make things convenient for your clients, you can set up a booking form so readers can schedule coaching sessions right from your WordPress blog.

See our list of the 5 best WordPress appointment and booking plugins to get started.

Sell Physical Products Online Using WordPress

While selling digital products or services can be an easy way to start making money online, there’s nothing quite like selling real, physical products. Here are a few ways you can get started selling products with WordPress.

20. Start an Ecommerce Business With WooCommerce

Have an idea for your own product? Why not start your own online store?

WordPress makes it easy to create a shop or even add a shop to your existing blog using the free WooCommerce plugin.

Starting an online store can be a lot of work, since you need to create or buy the products and then ship them out yourself.

But selling physical products can be a rewarding experience, and sometimes a physical product is exactly what your audience wants.

To get started, see our tutorial on how to start an online store with WooCommerce.

You can also use Shopify or BigCommerce as WooCommerce alternative.

21. Create an Online T-shirt Store With WordPress

Creating your own t-shirt shop is easy with WordPress. Almost everyone wears t-shirts, so opening up a t-shirt shop is a great way to monetize any kind of blog. Designing t-shirts allows you to be creative and offer something unique to your audience.

It’s easy because there are services out there that allow you to upload your own designs, and they print / ship it for you. You get a profit share.

You can easily create your own t-shirt shop on your WordPress site using WP-Spreadplugin by Spreadshirt.

open your own online tshirt store to make money

If you want a faster solution, then you can use a Shopify store which connects with dozens of t-shirt printing companies.

22. Create a WooCommerce Dropshipping Store

Dropshipping is another way you can create an ecommerce store on your WordPress website without having to handle inventory or ship items yourself.

With dropshipping, you create the store, manage the website, and customer service. But a dropshipping service will take your orders and ship them out to your customers. They’re an invisible third party that your customers don’t even know about.

You can use the WooCommerce plugin to create a dropshipping store. There’s also a WooCommerce Dropshipping addon plugin that allows you to automate the process.

23. Create an Amazon Affiliate WordPress Shop

One downside of dropshipping is that you have to find a good supplier, which can be a challenge, and sometimes you have to place a large order up front. This can make it difficult to get started without investing a lot of money.

If you want an easier way to set up an ecommerce site without having to ship products yourself, then you may want to try an Amazon Affiliate shop.

As with many of the items on this list, this works best if you specialize in a niche. If you offer everything, it’s impossible to compete with a big shop like Amazon. But in a small niche, you can differentiate yourself and really stand out.

For complete instructions, see our tutorial on how tocreate an Amazon affiliate store using WordPress.

Offering Platform as a Service

WordPress comes with some incredibly powerful plugins that are actually full-fledged platforms in their own right.

You can add such a platform to your blog or e-commerce store and offer it as a paid service. You get a cut from each sell, which allows you to earn passive income from user activity on your website.

24.Create an Online Marketplace Website

An online marketplace is like an eCommerce store where users cannot just buy but also sell their own products. Normally, WooCommerce assumes that you run a single vendor website.

You will need a plugin like WC Vendors to turn WooCommerce into a multi-vendor capable platform. After that, vendors will be able to register on your site and start selling.

You can make money by charging commission on each sell, or you can allow vendors to buy membership packages for their listings.

For more details, see our guide on how to make an online marketplace using WordPress.

25. Make an Auctions Website

An auctions website allows users to bid on products to purchase them. This allows the sellers to maximize their profits and customers to find unique deals.

Ebay is probably the best example of an online auctions marketplace.

You can run auctions on your WordPress website and even allow third-party vendors to list their products as well. You can make money by charging for the listing or by getting a cut on each sell.

To build an auctions marketplace with WordPress, you will need the following add-ons.

  • WooCommerce (for shopping cart and payment features).
  • An auctions add-on
  • A multi-vendor add-on

For step by step instructions, see our guide on how to build an eBay like auctions website using WordPress.

26. Create a Job Marketplace website

Unlike a regular job listings website, a job marketplace allows you to make money on each job listing. Fiverr and UpWork are probably the best examples of online job marketplace websites.

You can promote your job marketplace as a micro-job platform for people working in the same niche as your blog. To make your platform more competitive you can select a very specific niche.

This will help you easily find customers and professionals who are unable to use large platforms because of too much irrelevant competition.

You can charge a small fee for job listings or when a job is completed. More successful completion of jobs will bring you more customers and freelancers in the future.

For details, see our step by step tutorial on how to make a Fiverr like Micro-Job website using WordPress.

Become a WordPress Designer or Developer

become a wordpress designer or developer

If you’re more technically inclined, then you can become a WordPress developer or designer in order to make money online. This will take more technical skills, but it’s not too hard to get started.

27. Develop WordPress Plugins

Plugins are what make WordPress so flexible and powerful. Plugins work like apps, allowing you to extend and modify any feature of your WordPress website.

Plugins come in all varieties, from very simple code modifications to complex software applications. If you have a basic grasp of how WordPress works and some simple PHP knowledge, you can create your own WordPress plugin.

As a plugin developer, there are many ways you can distribute your plugins. Anyone can submit a free plugin to the WordPress.org plugin directory, as long as they follow the WordPress plugin guidelines. This is a great way to gain experience and build a reputation for yourself as a WordPress plugin developer.

Once you’re ready to start selling premium plugins, you could choose to sell them on a site like MOJO Marketplace, or on your own WordPress site.

If you’re using your existing WordPress blog to sell plugins, you’ll want to make sure that the plugin you create directly fulfills a need of your audience. You can survey them to see what problems they need to solve on their WordPress site, and then create a plugin that solves that problem.

You can then sell the plugin on your site using Easy Digital Downloads.

28. Sell WordPress Themes

If you enjoy web design and development, you could start creating your own WordPress themes to sell.

This requires both design and technical skills. You have to know how to create a good-looking design, and also how to code it for WordPress.

Using a WordPress theme framework such asGenesis can give you a head start. Then you’ll need to design and code a beautiful child theme.

29. Sell Graphics on Your WordPress Site

If you like design more than coding, another option is to design and sell graphics on your WordPress site.

You can create graphics such as stock images or logos and sell them on your site using an ecommerce plugin. You can also join online marketplaces to sell your graphics as well.

30. Accept Donations

one way to make money online is by asking for donations

Last but not least, one way you can make money from your WordPress blog is simply to ask for it.

You can begin accepting donations in a few different ways. You could add a Paypal donate button or aStripe donate button to your website. Or for a more professional look and advanced features like email marketing integration, you could use WPForms tocreate a donation form on your WordPress site.

Donations are last on the list because of their limited effectiveness, since you have to rely on the generosity of your readers. It’s usually more lucrative to offer them something in return.

FAQs about making money blogging with WordPress?

At WPBeginner, we have helped thousands of beginners start their blogging journey. We have heard almost every question you can think of. Here are the top questions beginners ask us about making money online by blogging.

1. Which one of these proven ways is right for me?

Depends on what you are passionate about and which method would work best with your blog’s topics.

For example, if you run a blog about photography, then affiliate marketing, advertisements, and paid memberships may all work well for your blog.

Focus on offering useful, quality content, that users will find helpful and money will follow. Or as the saying goes, do what you love and the money will follow.

2. How much money can I make from blogging?

It really depends on how much effort you put in and the time you are willing to invest. To be honest, many beginner bloggers lose interest and give up quickly.

You will be making money based on how much traffic you get, the monetization methods you use, and the work you put in. Many successful bloggers make six and even seven figure incomes.

3. How long would it take before I start making some serious money from blogging?

Making money online is not a ‘get-rich-quick’ scam. Anyone telling you otherwise is probably trying to scam you. If you want to make money by starting a blog, then you will have to work hard and invest a lot of your time into it.

There is no easy way to tell you how soon you would start making money. Some bloggers start making small amounts soon after starting their blogs. Others struggle to get their blogs to take off.

However, those who continuously work and stick to a planned strategy are the ones most likely to see encouraging results very early on.

4. How do I get started?

Getting started with your own WordPress blog is easy. However, make sure that you are using the right platform.

Basically, there are two types of WordPress available. WordPress.com which is a hosted solution, and WordPress.org, also known as self-hosted WordPress.

We recommend using WordPress.org because it will allow you to start making money without any limitations. For more details, see our comparison ofWordPress.com vs WordPress.org.

You will need a domain name and a web hosting account to start blogging with WordPress.org. Normally, a domain costs $14.99 per year and web hosting $7.99 per month usually paid for a full year.

This is a lot of money if you are just starting a new blog.

Luckily, we were able to get an exclusive discount from Bluehost. They are offering 60% off and a free domain name to WPBeginner users.

5 Stretches for Tailbone Pain During Pregnancy

Tailbone pain is one of the most common aches that pregnant women experience.

In general, relaxin and other hormones are to blame. They cause relaxation and stretching of your pelvic floor, which also moves your coccyx.

The coccyx is a joint that’s at the very bottom of your spine. It sits right behind your uterus. Your growing baby pushing against it, hormones, and other issues like constipation can contribute to pain. Often, what feels like lower back pain and hip pain during pregnancy is actually tailbone pain.

While there’s no cure for it, there are some stretches you can do to help ease the pain. If your pain is severe or lasts more than a few days with little change or if it worsens, see your doctor.

You’ll need a yoga mat to comfortably perform this stretching routine.

1. Cat-Cow

This stretch gently strengthens your lower back and pelvis. It also increases spine mobility and takes pressure off your tailbone.

Muscles worked: This pelvic tilt moves your spine by using your arm, abdominal, and back muscles.

  1. Begin on all fours, with your feet flat (toes not tucked). Keep your shoulders directly over your wrists and hips directly over your knees.
  2. As you inhale, drop your belly, letting your back arch but keeping your shoulders rolled back and down. This is Cow.
  3. As you exhale, press into your hands and round your upper back. This is Cat.
  4. Continue moving on your inhales and exhales. Repeat 10 times.

2. Standing Cat-Cow

This is basically the above stretch, but it’s done standing. This moves the spine differently and provides you with a bit more mobility in the stretch itself. This can really help you find what you need for your body.

Equipment needed: sturdy wall

Muscles worked: all the same muscles as Cat-Cow, plus the glutes and leg muscles

  1. Begin standing with your feet a little wider than hip-width apart, about 2 feet from the wall.
  2. Press your hands into the wall at shoulder height, and as you begin to walk your hands down the wall, walk your feet backward. You want to create an “L” with your body. If it feels better to stay a bit higher up, it’s fine to stay there, as long as you feel stable.
  3. As you inhale, drop your belly. Let your back arch, just like in Cow (above).
  4. As you exhale, press against the wall and round your upper back.
  5. Alternate arching and rounding your back 10 times.

3. Downward-Facing Dog

This pose will help stretch and strengthen your lower back, the backs of your legs, and help lengthen your spine.

Muscles worked: foot muscles, triceps, quads, lats

  1. Starting on all fours on the mat, tuck your toes under. Inhale and gently lift your hips as you push into your hands.
  2. Exhale. You can walk your hands or feet out a little if it feels more comfortable. When you’re in a comfortable stance, push evenly into all 10 fingers.
  3. Pedal your feet out here if you like, or simply extend your heels toward the ground.
  4. Keep your shoulders plugged into their joints, your upper back broadening, and your spine extending. Keep your awareness here on not letting your back bow.

Note: This is an inversion pose. Avoid it late in the third trimester (after week 33) unless you’ve talked to your doctor and had an active yoga practice before pregnancy.

4. Bridge

This is a gentle stretch for your hip flexors. It also strengthens your lower back, abdominals, and glutes. This can help relieve hip and lower back aches.

Muscles worked: gluteus maximus, hamstrings, quadriceps, rectus abdominis, hip flexors

  1. Lie flat on your back with your knees bent and your feet flat on the floor, approximately hip-width apart. Your feet can be a little farther apart if it’s more comfortable. Keep your arms straight alongside your body.
  2. As you inhale, curl your pelvis until your lower back is gently pressing against the floor and the movement flows into you, lifting your hips.
  3. Hold here, with your hips above chest level for a few counts.
  4. As you exhale, gently roll your spine back onto the ground, one vertebra at a time.
  5. As you relax preparing for the next lift, be sure your spine is neutral (meaning your lower back will be slightly off the ground, respecting the natural curve of your lumbar spine).
  6. Repeat 10 times.

5. Child’s Pose

This pose is a great back and hip stretch. It eases pain in all parts of the spine, including the lower back and pelvis.

Equipment needed: a pillow to support your abdomen (optional)

Muscles worked: glutes, hip rotators, hamstrings, spinal extensors

  1. Begin on all fours on the mat with your knees directly under your hips. Your big toes should be touching. This will give your belly room to slide between your knees and avoid putting strain on your hips. You can also widen your toes if having them touching puts any pressure on your knees or doesn’t provide enough room for your belly. A pillow placed lengthwise between your knees will support your abdomen.
  2. Inhale and feel your spine grow longer.
  3. As you exhale, lower your butt to your heels. Tuck your chin to your chest.
  4. Rest here, forehead on the ground, keeping your arms outstretched. You can also fold a blanket and let your head rest on it.
  5. Hold this for at least 5 deep, even breaths.

The Takeaway

There’s no cure for tailbone pain during pregnancy, but there are many ways to treat it. Doing these stretches once a day can really help.

For any pain that is severe or consistent, be sure to see your doctor.

7 Benefits and Uses of CBD Oil (Plus Side Effects)

Cannabidiol is a popular natural remedy used for many common ailments.

Better known as CBD, it is one of the 104 chemical compounds known as cannabinoids found in the cannabis or marijuana plant, Cannabis sativa (1).

Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) is the main psychoactive cannabinoid found in cannabis, and causes the sensation of getting “high” that’s often associated with marijuana. However, unlike THC, CBD is not psychoactive.

This quality makes CBD an appealing option for those who are looking for relief from pain and other symptoms without the mind-altering effects of marijuana or certain pharmaceutical drugs.

CBD oil is made by extracting CBD from the cannabis plant, then diluting it with a carrier oil like coconut or hemp seed oil.

It’s gaining momentum in the health and wellness world, with some scientific studies confirming it may help treat a variety of ailments like chronic pain and anxiety.

Here are seven health benefits of CBD oil that are backed by scientific evidence.

Marijuana has been used to treat pain as far back as 2900 B.C. (2).

More recently, scientists have discovered that certain components of marijuana, including CBD, are responsible for its pain-relieving effects.

The human body contains a specialized system called the endocannabinoid system (ECS), which is involved in regulating a variety of functions including sleep, appetite, pain and immune system response (3).

The body produces endocannabinoids, which are neurotransmitters that bind to cannabinoid receptors in your nervous system.

Studies have shown that CBD may help reduce chronic pain by impacting endocannabinoid receptor activity, reducing inflammation and interacting with neurotransmitters (4).

For example, one study in rats found that CBD injections reduced pain response to surgical incision, while another rat study found that oral CBD treatment significantly reduced sciatic nerve pain and inflammation (5, 6).

Several human studies have found that a combination of CBD and THC is effective in treating pain related to multiple sclerosis and arthritis.

An oral spray called Sativex, which is a combination of THC and CBD, is approved in several countries to treat pain related to multiple sclerosis.

In a study of 47 people with multiple sclerosis, those treated with Sativex for one month experienced a significant improvement in pain, walking and muscle spasms, compared to the placebo group (7).

Another study found that Sativex significantly improved pain during movement, pain at rest and sleep quality in 58 people with rheumatoid arthritis (8).

SUMMARY:

CBD, especially in combination with THC, may be effective in reducing pain associated with diseases like multiple sclerosis and rheumatoid arthritis.

Anxiety and depression are common mental health disorders that can have devastating impacts on health and well-being.

According to the World Health Organization, depression is the single largest contributor to disability worldwide, while anxiety disorders are ranked sixth (9).

Anxiety and depression are usually treated with pharmaceutical drugs, which can cause a number of side effects including drowsiness, agitation, insomnia, sexual dysfunction and headache (10).

What’s more, medications like benzodiazepines can be addictive and may lead to substance abuse (11).

CBD oil has shown promise as a treatment for both depression and anxiety, leading many who live with these disorders to become interested in this natural approach.

In one study, 24 people with social anxiety disorder received either 600 mg of CBD or a placebo before a public speaking test.

The group that received the CBD had significantly less anxiety, cognitive impairment and discomfort in their speech performance, compared to the placebo group (12).

CBD oil has even been used to safely treat insomnia and anxiety in children with post-traumatic stress disorder (13).

CBD has also shown antidepressant-like effects in several animal studies (14, 15).

These qualities are linked to CBD’s ability to act on the brain’s receptors for serotonin, a neurotransmitter that regulates mood and social behavior.

SUMMARYUsing CBD has been shown to reduce anxiety and depression in both human and animal studies.

CBD may help reduce symptoms related to cancer and side effects related to cancertreatment, like nausea, vomiting and pain.

One study looked at the effects of CBD and THC in 177 people with cancer-related pain who did not experience relief from pain medication.

Those treated with an extract containing both compounds experienced a significant reduction in pain compared to those who received only THC extract (16).

CBD may also help reduce chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting, which are among the most common chemotherapy-related side effects for those with cancer (17).

Though there are drugs that help with these distressing symptoms, they are sometimes ineffective, leading some people to seek alternatives.

A study of 16 people undergoing chemotherapy found that a one-to-one combination of CBD and THC administered via mouth spray reduced chemotherapy-related nausea and vomiting better than standard treatment alone (18).

Some test-tube and animal studies have even shown that CBD may have anticancer properties. For example, one test-tube study found that concentrated CBD induced cell death in human breast cancer cells (19).

Another study showed that CBD inhibited the spread of aggressive breast cancer cells in mice (20).

However, these are test-tube and animal studies, so they can only suggest what might work in people. More studies in humans are needed before conclusions can be made.

SUMMARYThough CBD has been shown to help reduce symptoms related to cancer and cancer treatment, and may even have cancer-fighting properties, more research is needed to assess its efficacy and safety.

Acne is a common skin condition that affects more than 9% of the population (21).

It is thought to be caused by a number of factors, including genetics, bacteria, underlying inflammation and the overproduction of sebum, an oily secretion made by sebaceous glands in the skin (22, 23).

Based on recent scientific studies, CBD oil may help treat acne due to its anti-inflammatory properties and ability to reduce sebum production.

One test-tube study found that CBD oil prevented sebaceous gland cells from secreting excessive sebum, exerted anti-inflammatory actions and prevented the activation of “pro-acne” agents like inflammatory cytokines (24).

Another study had similar findings, concluding that CBD may be an efficient and safe way to treat acne, thanks in part to its remarkable anti-inflammatory qualities (25).

Though these results are promising, human studies exploring the effects of CBD on acne are needed.

SUMMARYCBD may have beneficial effects on acne due to its anti-inflammatory qualities and its ability to control the overproduction of sebum from the sebaceous glands.

Researchers believe that CBD’s ability to act on the endocannabinoid system and other brain signaling systems may provide benefits for those with neurological disorders.

In fact, one of the most studied uses for CBD is in treating neurological disorders like epilepsy and multiple sclerosis. Though research in this area is still relatively new, several studies have shown promising results.

Sativex, an oral spray consisting of CBD and THC, has been proven to be a safe and effective way to reduce muscle spasticity in people with multiple sclerosis.

One study found that Sativex reduced spasms in 75% of 276 people with multiple sclerosis who were experiencing muscle spasticity that was resistant to medications (26).

Another study gave 214 people with severe epilepsy 0.9–2.3 grams of CBD oil per pound (2–5 g/kg) of body weight. Their seizures reduced by a median of 36.5% (27).

One more study found that CBD oil significantly reduced seizure activity in children with Dravet syndrome, a complex childhood epilepsy disorder, compared to a placebo (28).

However, it’s important to note that some people in both these studies experienced adverse reactions associated with CBD treatment, such as convulsions, fever and diarrhea.

CBD has also been researched for its potential effectiveness in treating several other neurological diseases.

For example, several studies have shown that treatment with CBD improved quality of life and sleep quality for people with Parkinson’s disease (29, 30).

Additionally, animal and test-tube studies have shown that CBD may decrease inflammation and help prevent the neurodegeneration associated with Alzheimer’s disease (31).

In one long-term study, researchers gave CBD to mice genetically predisposed to Alzheimer’s disease, finding that it helped prevent cognitive decline (32).

SUMMARY Though research is limited at this time, CBD has been shown to effectively treat symptoms related to epilepsy and Parkinson’s disease. CBD was also shown to reduce the progression of Alzheimer’s disease in test-tube and animal studies.

Recent research has linked CBD with several benefits for the heart and circulatory system, including the ability to lower high blood pressure.

High blood pressure is linked to higher risks of a number of health conditions, including stroke, heart attack and metabolic syndrome (33).

Studies indicate that CBD may be a natural and effective treatment for high blood pressure.

One recent study treated 10 healthy men with one dose of 600 mg of CBD oil and found it reduced resting blood pressure, compared to a placebo.

The same study also gave the men stress tests that normally increase blood pressure. Interestingly, the single dose of CBD led the men to experience a smaller blood pressure increase than normal in response to these tests (34).

Researchers have suggested that the stress- and anxiety-reducing properties of CBD are responsible for its ability to help lower blood pressure.

Additionally, several animal studies have demonstrated that CBD may help reduce the inflammation and cell death associated with heart disease due to its powerful antioxidant and stress-reducing properties.

For example, one study found that treatment with CBD reduced oxidative stress and prevented heart damage in diabetic mice with heart disease (35).

SUMMARYThough more human studies are needed, CBD may benefit heart health in several ways, including by reducing blood pressure and preventing heart damage

CBD has been studied for its role in treating a number of health issues other than those outlined above.

Though more studies are needed, CBD is thought to provide the following health benefits:

  • Antipsychotic effects: Studies suggest that CBD may help people with schizophrenia and other mental disorders by reducing psychotic symptoms (36).
  • Substance abuse treatment: CBD has been shown to modify circuits in the brain related to drug addiction. In rats, CBD has been shown to reduce morphine dependence and heroin-seeking behavior (37).
  • Anti-tumor effects: In test-tube and animal studies, CBD has demonstrated anti-tumor effects. In animals, it has been shown to prevent the spread of breast, prostate, brain, colon and lung cancer (38).
  • Diabetes prevention: In diabetic mice, treatment with CBD reduced the incidence of diabetes by 56% and significantly reduced inflammation (39).

SUMMARYSome studies suggest that CBD may be an effective treatment for diabetes, substance abuse, mental disorders and certain types of cancers. However, more research in humans is needed.

Though CBD is generally well tolerated and considered safe, it may cause adverse reactions in some people.

Side effects noted in studies include (40):

  • Diarrhea
  • Changes in appetite
  • Fatigue

CBD is also known to interact with several medications. Before you start using CBD oil, discuss it with your doctor to ensure your safety and avoid potentially harmful interactions (41).

SUMMARYAlthough CBD is generally considered safe, it can cause adverse reactions like diarrhea and fatigue in some people. It may also interfere with certain medications.

CBD oil has been studied for its potential role in treating many common health issues, including anxiety, depression, acne and heart disease.

For those with cancer, it may even provide a natural alternative for pain and symptom relief.

Research on the potential health benefits of CBD oil is ongoing, so new therapeutic uses for this natural remedy are sure to be discovered.

Though there is much to be learned about the efficacy and safety of CBD, results from recent studies suggest that CBD may provide a safe, powerful natural treatment for many health issues.

Types Of CCTV Cameras

A CCTV security system is essential for any type of business or public organization. Therefore it’s vital to select the right CCTV camera for the right location and application.

There are lots of CCTV cameras to choose from on the market today, with many different features and options, resulting in a confusing array of various types, styles, and configurations. But which is best for your intended business security application?

Here Are The 8 Different Types Of CCTV Cameras You Should Know About:

1. Dome CCTV Camera

Dome CCTV Cameras are most commonly used for indoor security and surveillance applications. Dome cameras get their name from the dome-shaped housing in which they sit. These housings are designed to make the CCTV cameras unobtrusive… not covert or hidden. Typical applications are retail, where the camera is designed to be unobtrusive, but visible.

The “dome” shape makes it difficult to tell the direction that these cameras are facing, and thus are ideal for deterring criminals. The “bad guys” will know the facility is being watched and customers will feel at ease knowing the facility is being protected. Units that allow the camera to pan/tilt/zoom and spin quickly within the housing are often referred to as “speed domes.”

Speed Dome CCTV cameras give the surveillance operator the ability to move the camera. There are cameras that have automated pan/tilt/zoom functionality where the camera is moving on a timed basis. These are used to cover a wide area with only one camera, or to avoid poor light conditions at certain times of day.

2. Bullet CCTV Camera

Bullet CCTV Cameras have a long, cylindrical, and tapered shape, similar to that of a “rifle bullet”, often used in applications that require long distance viewing. The camera is not typically designed to have pan/tilt/zoom control but instead to capture images from a fixed location, pointing at a particular area.

A bullet CCTV camera is a wall-mount or ceiling-mounted unit that is typically designed for indoor use, but can also be used for some outdoor applications.  Many bullet cameras can also be waterproof by being installed inside protective casings, which protect against dust, dirt, rain, hail and other harmful elements.

3. C-Mount CCTV Camera

C-mount CCTV cameras have detachable lenses to fit different applications. Standard CCTV camera lenses can only cover distances of between 35 and 40ft, therefore with C-mount CCTV cameras, it is possible to use special lenses, which can cover distances greater than 40ft.

4. Day/Night CCTV Camera

The day/night CCTV cameras have the distinct advantage of operating in both normal and poorly-lit environments. These cameras do not have Infrared illuminators because they can capture clear video images in varying light conditions and in the dark.

The camera is ideal for outdoor surveillance applications, where Infrared CCTV cameras cannot function optimally. These CCTV cameras are primarily used in outdoor applications and they can have a wide dynamic range to function in glare, direct sunlight, reflections and strong back light 24/7.

5. Infrared/Night Vision CCTV Camera

These night-vision CCTV cameras have the ability to see images in pitch black conditions using Infrared LEDs and are ideal in outside conditions where lighting is poor to zero.

6. Network/IP CCTV Camera

These cameras, both hardwired and wireless, transmit images over the Internet, often compressing the bandwidth so as not to overwhelm the web. IP cameras are easier to install than analog cameras because they do not require a separate cable run or power boost to send images over a longer distance.

7. Wireless CCTV Camera

Not all wireless cameras are IP-based. Some wireless cameras can use alternative modes of wireless transmission. But no matter what the transmission method, the primary benefit to these units is still the same: extreme flexibility in installation.

8. High-Definition HD CCTV Camera

Ultra high-definition cameras are often relegated to niche markets, such as casinos and banks. These give the operators the ability to zoom in with extreme clarity (to look at a poker player who might have something up their sleeve).

Beyond this list, there are many other types of CCTV cameras, but most of those are more related to the application in which the unit will be used vs. the type of camera.

What exactly happens when a wire transfer is made?

Here is what happens:

  1. The sender writes down details of the beneficiary. This includes the account number, bank details (including the branch where the account is), any routing numbers (for example, it may include a FEDWIRE/IFSC codes) and other information.
  2. This information is submitted (along with the amount to be transferred) to the source bank.
  3. From the sender’s account, the amount being transferred is deducted and put into an internal account at the bank from where the transfer is being initiated.
  4. The exact amount deducted depends on the nature of the transfer, for example, if its a transfer in a currency other than the account currency, then an exchange rate is applied and the equivalent amount is deducted.
  5. The bank then does its normal fiduciary duties such as checking the beneficiary bank, doing any number of internal checks and if the checks pass, then the transfer is actually placed.
  6. All international money transfers happen in so-called “major” currencies, usually USD, Euro, GBP and the Japanese Yen; there may be circumstances where the transfer is done in another currency, but its a very rare situation. Even if a transaction takes place in another currency, the settlement of funds always happens in major currencies.
  7. To get money from Bank A to Bank B, either Bank A and Bank B have a direct relationship (they have accounts at each other’s institutions); or Bank A and Bank B have a common bank (normally called the correspondence bank) at which they both have accounts. Major banks usually act as correspondence banks for other(s). A bank in the UK may have an account with Bank of America that is funded in USD; so that Bank of America can transfer funds on behalf of the UK bank’s clients that want to transfer money to the US.
  8. The banks rely on a common network called SWIFT to actually “wire” the money; think of SWIFT as a very old email system that accepts very cryptic messages. These messages are in the form of instructions to other banks. Special instructions placed on this network affect the transfer of funds.

Now for a practical example:

Lets say you want to transfer 50 Euros from the Regional Bank of Omaha to your friend that is living in Germany and has an account at Regional Bank of Berlin.

You would walk to your branch, (or login to your online banking account) and enter information for your friend’s account and branch in Berlin. You enter the amount of transfer as 50 EUR.

As you have a US dollar account, the bank will apply a rate and deduct the equivalent of 50 euros in dollars from your account; it will take this amount and place it in an internal reconciliation account.

It will then send a message over SWIFT to its correspondence account for Euros which lets say is Deutsche Bank. Deutsche Bank receives this message and checks the final beneficiary bank.

If the beneficiary bank has an account at Deutsche Bank, then Deutsche Bank will transfer the funds (minus its fees) to the corresponding account of Regional Bank of Berlin; and notify them (again, via a SWIFT message) that they have incoming transfer and the amount. The process ends and then your friend’s account will get credit the net amount (the original 50 Euros, minus any fees).

If the beneficiary bank does not have an account with Deutsche Bank, Deutsche Bank transfer the funds from the Regional Bank of Omaha’s account with them to another bank which holds an account for the Regional Bank of Berlin; and the same process applies.

There are various regulatory measures in place – mainly to prevent the transfer of funds for illicit or illegal purposes; to stop the financing of terrorism, or to prevent money laundering. Recipient names are also checked against a global blacklist.

In some cases, extra information may be required (such as the purpose of funds) or more details of the recipient (such as a passport number).

In other instances the transfer may be rejected if the beneficiary account is closed or blocked; sometimes transfers are rejected simply because there is a typo and a 3 became a 8, etc.

When It Hurts, But you must leave the relationship

Vanel was so in love that despite everything he did she forgave him; he never introduced her to anyone important in his life, never took her out but treated her like his maid always cleaning and cooking while he slept around, cheated east west and centre she had to stalk him on social media and fight off lady friends, never thoughtful in anyway and the worst of them all, he stole from her because believe me, cheating hurts but when your man steals from you, it hurts much.

Dear America

Dear America,

I’d like you to meet and remember the names and faces of Chatéri and Natalie.

They are both beautiful, young, vibrant women. Independent, intelligent, strong, and patriotic. Full of promise and their desire to serve their country, their communities, and hoping to make the world a better place.

Both are 22 years old.

Both have been Police Officers for less than six months.

Both are dead; less than a day apart.

Both of them were murdered, you see.

Not for the color of their skin, but for the content of their character – character that led them to cover themselves in a color of unity, service, protection, and duty:

Blue.

America, sometimes I don’t even recognize you anymore. I hear about walls and healthcare, wars and sexism. I see violence and polarization, depravity, unspeakable wealth and crushing poverty. I see a shut-down government and national leaders who cannot come together for the good of The People.

But as soon as I look into the eyes of Chatéri and Natalie, those gorgeous eyes that shall never open again or see another sunset, I remember what we are about. I know all is not lost.

We do not deserve women and men such as these, but we desperately need them.

Look upon the faces of these fallen heroes – heroes who gave their life for YOU – and know that those on the Thin Blue Line will walk through ridicule and persecution, vitriol and hateful rhetoric; and even still, they will climb in to their squad car of black and white, turn the engine on, and roar off into the dark of night and come to you, sirens wailing and hearts of service ready, whenever you need them.

Officer Chatéri Payne, Shreveport, Louisiana Police Department. End of Watch 1/09/2019. Time as an Officer: 2 months.

Officer Natalie Corona, Davis, California Police Department. End of Watch 1/10/2019. Time as an Officer: 5 months.

Though they may be gone, they are NOT forgotten.

Respectfully yours in Service,

The Thin Blue Line
